The service is suitable for textured decorative finishes such as stippled, rough or similar wall coatings that need to be converted to a smooth surface.
Depending on the existing coating and substrate, the texture may be removed mechanically or covered with a suitable smoothing compound.
Loose or unstable areas are removed where necessary before smoothing begins.
One or more layers of suitable filler or skim-coat compound may be applied to level the wall surface.
After drying, the treated surfaces are sanded to achieve a reasonably smooth finish suitable for subsequent priming and painting.
The exact number of coats and amount of preparation depend on the depth of the texture and condition of the existing wall.
Materials such as filler, skim-coat compound, primer and abrasives are not included unless specifically stated in the quotation.
Final painting is not included unless specifically agreed as part of the service.
Deep cracks, loose plaster, damaged plasterboard, significant wall movement or other structural defects require separate repair.
Damp, mould, water damage and unstable substrates must be treated before or alongside wall smoothing and are assessed separately.
Removal of unknown or potentially hazardous coatings is not included until the material has been appropriately identified.
Large areas, very heavy textures, high walls or difficult-access locations may require an individual quotation.
