Steam disinfection and curtain refreshing is an additional service for textiles in an apartment, rental property, house, office, hospitality property or short-term rental property. It helps refresh curtains without removing them and reduce dust, odours, surface dirt, allergens and microorganisms on accessible fabric areas.
Curtains are constantly exposed to dust, air, sunlight, moisture, kitchen odours, tobacco smoke, pet hair and everyday dirt. Over time, the fabric may lose freshness and accumulate odours, dust and signs of use. This is especially noticeable in homes near the sea, apartments with balconies, properties after tenants, guest apartments and rooms where curtains have not been serviced for a long time.
Before starting, the cleaner inspects the curtains and assesses the fabric type, density, height, lining, decorative elements, stains, odours, moisture marks, fading, deformation or damage. After that, a safe steam treatment mode is selected, taking into account the material and the risk of shrinkage, colour bleeding, deformation and over-wetting.

The basic service price does not include:

- Full steaming of heavy folds and decorative elements

- Removal of urine, mould, nicotine, grease or biological contamination
- Removal of old odours from deep inside the fabric
- Fabric whitening
- Restoration of fabric colour
- Repairing seams, fabric, eyelets, hooks, curtain tape or decorative elements
- Work with curtain rails, fixings, mechanisms or electric drives
- Medical sterilisation
- Guaranteed elimination of all bacteria, viruses, fungi, mites and allergens
- Treatment of curtains with active mould, insects, bed bugs or unsafe sanitary condition
These tasks may require separate specialised treatment, dry cleaning, washing, repair, disinfection or replacement of the item.
Important limitations
Steam treatment is not suitable for all curtain types. Some fabrics are sensitive to heat, moisture and steam. Extra care is required with silk, viscose, linen, wool, velvet, velour, blackout fabrics, treated fabrics, lining, glued elements, decorative finishes and items without a readable care label.
Not all odours can be removed completely. If the smell is deep inside the fabric or is related to tobacco smoke, dampness, mould, long storage, kitchen grease, pets or biological contamination, it may partially remain even after steam treatment.
We do not guarantee a “like new” condition if the curtains are old, faded, deformed, stained, have moisture marks, fabric damage, shrinkage, colour bleeding, weak seams or traces of incorrect self-washing.
Curtains with active mould, bed bugs, insects, heavy biological contamination or a strong decomposition-like odour are not treated. In such cases, specialised disinfection, pest control, dry cleaning or replacement of the item is required.
After steam treatment, curtains may need time to dry completely and air out. Damp curtains must not be immediately closed into dense folds or pressed against a wall or furniture if the fabric has not dried yet.
Our approach
We perform steam disinfection and curtain refreshing according to a technical cleaning card: first, we inspect the fabric and structure, assess access, area and risks, then select a safe steam mode, treat accessible surfaces and control the moisture level.
The main goal is to carefully refresh curtains and reduce surface dust, odours and allergens without damaging the fabric, seams, lining or decorative elements. We do not use aggressive methods and do not perform treatment if there is a high risk of damaging the item.
Before/after photo or video confirmation is available on request, especially if the service is performed at a property without the owner present.
Payment and documents
Payment is made on site after the service: in cash or by card via payment link.
The service price is excluding VAT. If you need an official invoice, 21% VAT is added.
