Steam disinfection of a sofa is an additional service for upholstered furniture in an apartment, rental property, house, office, hospitality property or short-term rental property. It helps refresh the upholstery and reduce dust, surface dirt, odours, allergens and microorganisms on accessible sofa surfaces.
A sofa is in daily contact with clothing, skin, home textiles, dust, pet hair, food residue, drinks and everyday dirt. Over time, odours, dust particles, signs of use and surface contamination may accumulate on the upholstery. This is especially important for rental apartments, guest areas, properties after tenants, family homes and properties where a neat and hygienic condition of upholstered furniture must be maintained.
Before starting, the cleaner inspects the sofa and assesses the fabric type, seam condition, presence of stains, odours, moisture marks, deformation, mould, upholstery damage or filling damage. After that, a safe steam treatment mode is selected, taking into account the material, sofa construction, fabric density and the risk of over-wetting.

What is not included in the basic service
The basic service price does not include:
- Extraction cleaning of the sofa
- Deep dry cleaning of upholstery
- Complete stain removal
- Removal of urine, blood, vomit, mould or biological contamination
- Removal of old odours from deep inside the filling
- Fabric whitening
- Restoration of fabric colour
- Repairing seams, piping, fabric, zips or decorative elements
- Replacing the filling
- Disassembling the sofa or removing structural elements
- Drying with professional air movers or drying equipment, unless agreed separately
- Medical sterilisation
- Guaranteed elimination of all bacteria, viruses, fungi, mites and allergens
- Treatment of sofas with active mould, bed bugs, insects or unsafe sanitary condition
These tasks may require separate specialised treatment, dry cleaning, disinfection, pest control or replacement of the item.
Important limitations
Steam treatment is not suitable for all types of upholstery. Some fabrics and fillings are sensitive to heat, moisture and steam. Extra care is required with velour, chenille, jacquard, viscose, cotton, linen, wool, genuine leather, artificial leather, flock, microfiber, delicate fabrics and furniture without a readable care label.
Not all odours can be removed completely. If the smell is deep inside the filling or is related to urine, sweat, mould, long storage, dampness, tobacco smoke or biological contamination, it may partially remain even after steam treatment.
We do not guarantee a “like new” condition if the sofa is old, deformed, yellowed, stained, has moisture marks, damaged filling, mould, faded fabric or traces of incorrect self-cleaning.
Sofas with active mould, bed bugs, insects, heavy biological contamination or a strong decomposition-like odour are not treated. In such cases, specialised disinfection, pest control or furniture replacement is required.
After steam treatment, the sofa may need time to dry completely and air out. Damp upholstery must not be immediately covered with a blanket, cover, cushions or used before it is fully dry.
Our approach
We perform sanitary sofa treatment according to a technical cleaning card: first, we inspect the item and assess the fabric, structure and filling, then select a safe steam mode, treat accessible surfaces and control the moisture level.
The main goal is to carefully refresh the sofa and reduce surface dirt, odours, dust and allergens without damaging the upholstery, seams or filling. We do not use aggressive methods and do not perform treatment if there is a high risk of damaging the item.
Before/after photo or video confirmation is available on request, especially if the service is performed at a property without the owner present.
Payment and documents
Payment is made on site after the service: in cash or by card via payment link.
The service price is excluding VAT. If you need an official invoice, 21% VAT is added.
