The service includes visual inspection of accessible electrical components and appropriate electrical testing of the installation.
Checks may include the consumer unit, protective devices, accessible circuits, earthing, polarity, insulation condition, RCD operation and other safety-related parameters where applicable.
The scope of testing depends on the type, age and accessibility of the electrical installation.
After inspection, the customer receives a report describing the general condition of the installation and any defects or safety issues identified.
Where local regulations allow and the required conditions are met, an electrical certificate may be issued by an appropriately authorised electrician.
The service does not include repair of defects, replacement of breakers, RCDs, wiring, sockets, consumer units or other electrical components.
If defects must be corrected before a certificate can legally be issued, the required repairs are quoted separately.
Opening walls, ceilings or floors, extensive tracing of concealed wiring and destructive inspection are not included.
Government, utility, registration or other statutory fees are not included unless specifically stated.
